About the CEP® - Certified Etiquette Professional

ISPEP Certified Etiquette Professional Certification (CEP) is both a journey and a destination. It's a business marketing tool and a way to be recognized as a true expert in the field.

The certification requirements are tough.  It is the only exam (knowledge) based certification in the world for etiquette experts.  It's a rigorous process that differentiates you from everyone else.  We don't employ a portfolio-based certification program because by generally accepted professional certification standards, porfolios do not reflect the true knowledge of the individual.  A candidate may have been teaching or using the subjects for three or more years, but their knowledge may be wrong or incomplete. Therefore, they would not qualify to be certified at this time.

The mission of ISPEP Professional Certification is to:

  •      Provide a reliable, valid and fair method of assessing skills and knowledge.
Provide ISPEP a method of building and validating the skills of individuals and organizations.
Develop a loyal community of highly skilled certified professionals that ISPEP can recommend to potential clients.

You will have 4 hours of time to take the exam. It is broken down into two parts to give you a chance to catch your breath or take a break between parts.  You will have no more than 120 minutes for each part and if you take more time than that your exam will be disqualified.

The exam is given online and is timed.

You may take a practice exam (click below) to see what style and type of questions make up the exam.  There is no cost for the Sample Exam.  You may take it as many times as you like.
In order to register for the exam, you must be active in the field of etiquette and have proven experience for three or more years (credentials must be presented) plus your Exam Registration form.  The sitting fee for the CEP exam is $950 plus a non-refundable one-time registration fee of $150.  Fees may be paid by check (US banks only), online credit card, or wire transfer (contact us for the details of this).

You will need to complete the Certification Agreement and return it to our office signed prior to scheduling your exam. We also require written proof of your eligibility.  To qualify to take the exam you must be in the field of etiquette either as a teacher/trainer or use the knowlege in your career for three (3) or more years.  Our office will need notification 48 hours in advance of the time you intend to take the exam.   All fees must be paid and our office must agree to the time you intend to take the exam as well as receipt of all pertinent information..  Please check that you have taken care of and read all the items on the Check List below.
